Against a backdrop of growing poverty in Geneva, the demand for food aid continues to rise, with an increase in the number of beneficiaries amounting to 500 additional people each week.
Established in 1993, the Colis du Cœur Foundation distributes food and hygiene products every week to almost 8,500 people in need in the canton of Geneva. It relies on the commitment of more than 350 regular volunteers and works with 53 social organisations.
The aim of the Geneva food aid project is to support the foundation’s distribution system: "ColiShop". These are free, digital grocery shops that respect the dignity of beneficiaries. This distribution model is designed to be personalised, equitable, smooth and welcoming, while ensuring optimum nutritional quality.
Against a backdrop of growing poverty in Geneva, the demand for food aid continues to rise, with an increase in the number of beneficiaries amounting to 500 additional people each week. At the same time, the organisation has suffered a significant loss of funding, with long-standing and large-scale support coming to an end, making alternative sources of finance essential to ensure the continuity of its work.
The donation from the Audemars Piguet Foundation for Common Good will help to cover the costs associated with logistics, flow management, volunteer training and receiving beneficiaries – all of which are essential to the smooth running and sustainability of the organisation.
The results expected include maintaining and expanding reception capacity, preserving volunteer stability, continuously improving the quality of products distributed, and strengthening the beneficiaries’ sense of belonging to a supportive society.
