Due to rising energy costs, growing demand for food aid, and currently insufficient distribution capacity, the Czech Federation of Food Banks needs to adapt and further develop its activities in these areas.
The mission of the Czech Federation of Food Banks is to combat hunger and food waste. It serves to unite food banks operating across the Czech Republic, coordinate their activities, support their development, and represent them both domestically and internationally.
In response to rising energy costs, growing demand for food aid and currently insufficient distribution capacity, the Czech Federation of Food Banks needs to adapt and further develop its activities in these areas. The goal of this project is to strengthen the storage and distribution of rescued and purchased food to people in need, using the Federation’s own logistics system.
Storage is managed through its logistics centre in Prague, which offers 2,200 m² of warehouse space. It is equipped with freezing and cooling units with a total capacity of 80 pallets, a loading ramp, and professional handling equipment. Distribution involves transporting food to the central logistics centre and to the individual warehouses of the 15 regional food banks, from where it is further distributed to those in need. This is carried out either through cooperating charitable organisations or directly via a newly established network of food aid distribution points.
The project will help the Czech Federation of Food Banks achieve long-term sustainability and significantly improve the efficiency of food aid distribution.
