At the end of May 2023, 1,470 people were registered as homeless in Hong Kong, and just 630 places were available in shelters. To add to the problem, existing accommodation solutions often do not provide the support required to keep these individuals off the streets for good.
ImpactHK takes a holistic approach to combatting homelessness. Its emergency accommodation and housing programme provides homeless people with a comprehensive support system that addresses both their immediate and long-term needs. Participants benefit from safe and comfortable accommodation, and have access to essential services such as nutritious meals, sanitary facilities and healthcare. This stable environment enables them to start rebuilding their lives.
In addition to the services mentioned above, the programme – based on kindness, community involvement and empowerment – also addresses the issue of employment, by organising workshops on preparing for the workplace, the interview process and job hunting. Participants receive support tailored to their aspirations and needs, including introductions to local employers and ongoing assistance with finding opportunities.
