In Amsterdam South, the Amsterdam food bank runs a pantry and an adjacent storage area, both of which need renovating in order to double the pantry’s capacity.
The Amsterdam food bank was founded in 2005 to provide food aid to people in the Dutch capital whose income is temporarily insufficient to cover their everyday food requirements. It collects surplus food from supermarkets, wholesalers and producers, then redistributes it to those in need.
In Amsterdam South, the organisation runs a pantry and an adjacent storage area, both of which need renovating. This optimised renovation project includes purchasing new furniture and replacing existing warehouses. It should enable the pantry to welcome around 400 beneficiaries of the Amsterdam food bank each week, thus doubling the number of people currently receiving support.
