The Espace Clovis welcomes between 50 and 130 homeless people every morning, offering them practical solutions that are tailored to meet their basic needs.
Set up in 2006, the Espace Clovis respite centre in Metz was designed to fill a gap in the day-centre facilities available in the greater Metz area. Its aim is to welcome anyone experiencing serious social exclusion, without prejudice.
The Espace Clovis welcomes between 50 and 130 homeless people every morning, offering them practical solutions that are tailored to meet their basic needs. In 2023, 18,161 visits were recorded. All are welcomed anonymously and unconditionally. Those who come to the Espace Clovis respite centre can have breakfast or a shower, and wash, dry and iron their clothes. They can also store their personal belongings in a secure room.
As part of its services, the Espace Clovis helps homeless people to foster or revive social relations in an effort to eradicate their isolation. A social worker is also on hand to help with social and administrative formalities, so that people can become more independent. In addition, the Espace Clovis also runs a friendly soup kitchen that serves hot meals to the homeless.
Thanks to funding from the Audemars Piguet Foundation for Common Good, the Espace Clovis will be able to continue its work, focusing on the ways in which it can empower its beneficiaries. It will also be able to meet increased demand for its services and address new needs, such as the provision of occasional night-time accommodation and access to transportation.
